Friendly
(Fat Records, TCR, Australia / UK)

Friendly is Andrew Kornweibel, a breaks producer and DJ originally from Australia, now holding down the breaks scene in East London. With world class production, a keen eye for dancefloor sensibilities, and a penchant for naming his tracks after shady sexual references, Friendly is the new kid on the block party, and is quickly establishing himself as a major player in breaks. Mixing it up between some of the tougher electro and tech-house tunes with his own breaks flavour, Friendly is establishing his own unique sound, and bringing in audiences from both camps and injecting a new flavour into the scene. Friendly works very closely with Fat! Records and Fat head Paul Arnold. He’s a resident at Chew the Fat nights, recently gaining main room residency at the End nightlcub in London, the first time breaks has been hosted in the main room. He’s also played at every shady dive and backroom in London, from the striped-shirt and ‘nice’ shoes haunt that is Ministry of Sound, through to disused toilets in Shorditch, at Cargo, The Key, the Bug Bar, Herbal, EC1, around the UK, Budapest, Barcelona, St Petersburg, across to the US and back to Australia numerous times. Remixes have come in for LFO, SL2, INXS, Olav Bavloski, Meat Katie and Aquasky, Simply Jeff, Smithmonger, Flint, Toby Neal, Presser, and Deekline’s Booty Bouncer project, as well as his massive singles "The Bump and Grind", "Fetish", "Glottal Stomp", "2Black2Gay", and most recently "Nobody", an album on Fat! titled "Ten Things You Need To Know About Friendly". Now with the first Fat! Presents compilation under his belt, along with the main room residency at the End, a track for Playstation’s Wipeout racing game, and a bunch of new tunes and collaborations on the boil, means the future’s looking bright for the affable one as Friendly continues to spread his love for breakbeat and electro to an eager audience.
